Fur Babe Foodie - Pecan Pumpkin & Pea Fried Rice





My Fur Babe recipes are for dogs only. Dogs are scavengers and a variety of foods can be safely fed to them to improve their diets. (Cats are carnivores and must eat primarily meats to remain healthy.)

I recommend that you clear my recipes with your vet before feeding them to your own Fur Babe, and that you always provide your pups with a varied diet. I make several different recipes for my Fur Babe every week, as well as supplementing his diet with a high quality dry dog food.

I have never made a recipe that North does not devour. I began feeding him homemade foodie meals at two months old. I will never share one with you that is not a hit in his book. 








Pecan Pumpkin & Pea Fried Rice

12 Eggs
2 tbsp. Olive Oil
2 c. Brown Rice
1 Can Pumpkin Puree
2 c. Pecans
1 Bag Frozen Sweet Peas
Water






Cook the brown rice separately. I use a rice cooker and it is super convenient. I always recommend it as a kitchen appliance that I actually use.

In a large pot over medium heat cook the eggs and the olive oil for five minutes, stirring often. Add the pumpkin, peas, pecans and about a cup of water and continue cooking the mixture for fifteen minutes, adding water if necessary.






Remove the egg mixture from the heat. Add the brown rice and allow the mixture to set, stirring occasionally, for at least thirty minutes.

A serving can be given to your dog while warm - Not Too Hot - the rest can be stored, covered, in the fridge, for a few days.

My Fur Babe is still a large breed pup and finishes this amount of food in about three days. He also gets a serving of dry dog food in the mornings as a supplement.

Crustless Pumpkin Pie

This sophisticated version of pumpkin pie is amazingly smooth & rich. It is also Gluten-Free & free of Refined Sugar. 


Ingredients:

29oz pumpkin puree - 1 lg. can
1 stick unsalted butter - softened
8oz cream cheese - softened
5 eggs
1 tbsp. vanilla extract
1 tsp. pumpkin pie spice
1/2 c. honey
1 c. GF flour 






Whipped cream:

1 c. heavy cream
1 tsp. vanilla extract




Honey to drizzle on top.





Making it Happen:

Combine all of the ingredients for the pie in a mixing bowl and mix on medium speed until well combined. When the batter is smooth, pour it into a greased 9x13 baking pan and bake in an oven pre-heated to 350 degrees for one hour.





Allow the pie to cool for 30 minutes before slicing.




To make the whipped cream, blend the chilled heavy cream in a chilled bowl on high speed until it begins to thicken, add the vanilla and continue blending until the cream is thick. 





Plate pie with whipped cream & drizzle with honey. Enjoy!
