My Fur Babe recipes are for dogs only. Dogs are scavengers and a variety of foods can be safely fed to them to improve their diets. (Cats are carnivores and must eat primarily meats to remain healthy.)
I recommend that you clear my recipes with your vet before feeding them to your own Fur Babe, and that you always provide your pups with a varied diet. I make several different recipes for my Fur Babe every week, as well as supplementing his diet with a high quality dry dog food.
I have never made a recipe that North does not devour. I began feeding him homemade foodie meals at two months old. I will never share one with you that is not a hit in his book.
Fur Babe Fried Rice
2 c. Brown Rice - GMO Free if possible
2 Tbsp. Olive Oil
1 c. Walnuts
1 c. Sliced Baby Carrots - Organic if possible
1/2 c. Flax Seeds
1 Bag Frozen Peas - Organic if possible
1 tsp. Turmeric - High Quality
Cook the two cups of rice in a separate pot according to the directions, or in a rice maker, (the easiest way by far.)
Add the eggs and the olive oil to a large non-stick pot on the stove, and scramble them over medium heat for three minutes.
Add the carrots, walnuts, and flax, and turmeric, and about a cup of water. Continue cooking this mixture, adding water if necessary, for fifteen minutes.
Remove the mixture from the heat, and add the cooked rice and the frozen peas. Allow the mixture to rest, (the residual heat from the egg mixture and the rice will cook the peas while cooling the rest of the ingredients), for at least thirty minutes, stirring occasionally.
A serving can be given to your dog while warm - Not Too Hot - the rest can be stored, covered, in the fridge, for a few days.
My Fur Babe is still a large breed pup and finishes this amount of food in about three days. He also gets a serving of dry dog food in the mornings as a supplement.
