My Fur Babe recipes are for dogs only. Dogs are scavengers and a variety of foods can be safely fed to them to improve their diets. (Cats are carnivores and must eat primarily meats to remain healthy.)
I recommend that you clear my recipes with your vet before feeding them to your own Fur Babe, and that you always provide your pups with a varied diet. I make several different recipes for my Fur Babe every week, as well as supplementing his diet with a high quality dry dog food.
I have never made a recipe that North does not devour. I began feeding him homemade foodie meals at two months old. I will never share one with you that is not a hit in his book.
Fur Babe Beef & Broccoli
I sourced this beef liver from a local farming group here in Florida. Whenever possible it is best to source local foods and to know something about the farms that they are coming from.
2 c. Cooked Brown Rice - GMO Free if possible
2 Tbsp. Olive Oil
2 c. Sliced Broccoli Stems - Organic if possible
4 c. Diced Beef Liver
Cook the two cups of rice in a separate pot according to the directions, or in a rice maker, (the easiest way by far.)
Cook the liver and the olive oil in a large non-stick pot on the stove, over medium heat, stirring often for ten minutes. Add the broccoli and continue cooking for another 10 minutes stirring often.
Add the cooked rice to the liver mixture. Allow the mixture to rest, for at least thirty minutes, stirring occasionally.
A serving can be given to your dog while warm - Not Too Hot - the rest can be stored, covered, in the fridge, for a few days.
My Fur Babe is still a large breed pup and finishes this amount of food in about three days. He also gets a serving of dry dog food in the mornings as a supplement.
