Fur Babe Foodie - Fur Babe Beef & Broccoli

My Fur Babe recipes are for dogs only. Dogs are scavengers and a variety of foods can be safely fed to them to improve their diets. (Cats are carnivores and must eat primarily meats to remain healthy.)

I recommend that you clear my recipes with your vet before feeding them to your own Fur Babe, and that you always provide your pups with a varied diet. I make several different recipes for my Fur Babe every week, as well as supplementing his diet with a high quality dry dog food.

I have never made a recipe that North does not devour. I began feeding him homemade foodie meals at two months old. I will never share one with you that is not a hit in his book.

Fur Babe Beef & Broccoli

I sourced this beef liver from a local farming group here in Florida. Whenever possible it is best to source local foods and to know something about the farms that they are coming from.

2 Tbsp. Olive Oil
2 c. Sliced Broccoli Stems - Organic if possible

Tuna Casserole Puppy Style

The choice of tuna in this recipe is very important. Some types of tuna are very high in heavy metals and should be avoided. I use a Kirkland brand of Skipjack Chunk Light Tuna that is free school caught and species specific.

40 Things I Have Learned Not To Trust

I am turning 40 this week. I am incredibly grateful to be here, and for all that I have learned in the past forty years of my life.

This is a list of forty things/people that I have learned NEVER to place my trust in. This does not mean that they must always be avoided, but approached with the wisdom of deep and abiding skepticism.

I have learned to always follow the money trail in any situation. I have learned to always look to who stands to gain, or what power stands to be leveraged.

We do not live in a simple world, or an easy one. Without mustering the bravery to swim against the stream in this society, I honestly do not believe that I would be living the life that I am today.

Dentists - Dentistry is one of the biggest scams in modern America.
Charities - Look into them carefully & go for local.
The Komen Foundation - First charity call-out. These guys are hard core greedy.
The HSUS - Second Charity call-out. LIARS and animal murders.
Scientific Studies - Who paid for it?

The Greatest Show On Earth

To be honest, I am not a particularly big fan of the circus. I have been to Ringling’s as a child. I don’t remember it really.

I believe that it was probably Dumbo in particular, that somehow soaked in early, and gave me negative feelings towards it.

I never took my kids when they were little, which in some ways I am sure that I will regret, but then again, it is just a short group of years that I could have taken them, and now it is going to be gone forever.

I tear up every time that I think of it.

Not because I have a love for the circus, but because I see this as the beginning of the end.

I have pleaded with people rather often, to think critically when they see all of the activist nonsense that has absolutely saturated the media in this day and age.

I beg friends and readers to look into stories that these groups share, to do research, to think about who has what to gain from spreading the endless lies.

My heart lies with zoos, not the circus, but I am desperately afraid that the zoo…

10 Things That Will Make You A Perfect Mom

OMG! Just kidding! I HOPE that you opened this link because you wanted to prove me wrong. What kind of arrogant bitch would I have to be to suggest that I have all the answers? Anyone who claims that they do is definitely full of shit.

While you are here though, let’s have some laughs. Here are 10 things that someone at some point has suggested will make or break your go at motherhood. Some are ridiculous and some are painfully common, but don’t take my word for it…

1. Tattoos. There are religious groups out there - fruit-loop kool-aid type religious groups - who claim that getting tattoos will make you a terrible mother. They even go as far as to claim that the toxins in the ink used for tattoos will cause birth defects in babies. This is just another case of assholes trying to control what women choose to do with their own bodies. Let’s all go out and get a ‘cults suck’ tattoo!

2. Cursing. People think that if you curse in front of your kids you are a terrible person and you are goi…

Only The Mom…

*In writing this I am in no way discounting the man who takes on the “mom” role in a household. There are numerous ones out there who do, and they do a marvelous job. I know that their families would be lost - and dirty - without them.

These are the things that only the mom of the house does. From the predictable, to the disgusting, to the entirely random, there is no way on earth that you would survive without us. Remember that from time to time.

1. We lock doors and windows. We literally try to rush the rest of the family outside before we leave the house, because we know that if we do not do that last perimeter check, someone will - for some god-knows-what reason - leave something open, to let in the robbers and let out the cat.

2. We flush toilets. We grumble about it. We remind all of you all of the time, but for some reason, we are the only family members physically capable of depressing that little switch on the toilet. This happens particularly when there is a giant poop in it. …

Under Control

In talking with a co-volunteer the other day something of glaring relevance occurred to me.

It surprised me that as much as I speak out about every woman’s very private right to choose whether or not to have children, this idea was one that I had not spent much time pondering.

We were discussing the overwhelming irony of strongly conservative Christians protesting a woman’s right to abort a fetus while at the same time fighting for the privilege to corporately deny women birth control.

If you think about it it is not really ironic at all.

Conservative Christian groups are some of the most misogynistic organizations in our society.

Their agenda strictly pursues the cause of keeping women subservient to men, just like they are in the bible.

Do you know what makes a woman more vulnerable than any other thing on earth?

Having a child.

A woman with children is by far more easy to control than a woman who is not a mother.

Mothers adhere to more conservative rules of society so as not to draw ne…
