Hawaiian Pizza with Swiss Cheese Sauce
Not everyone is a fan of ham and pineapple on pizza, I know. This is a good one to try if you are on the fence. My husband even gobbled it up and he only likes pepperoni on pizza.
1 package gluten free pizza dough, prepared according to its directions
2 c. grated cheddar cheese
½ lb. sliced ham, cut into small pieces
1 can pineapple chunks, pieces cut in half
½ medium red onion, thinly sliced
2 tbsp. gluten free flour
2 tbsp. butter
2 c. half and half
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. black pepper
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 c. grated swiss cheese
I separate the dough into two parts and grease two nine-inch cake pans with canola oil and a napkin before spreading the dough in the pans. Bake the two pizza crusts without toppings for ten minutes at four hundred and twenty five degrees.
In a medium sized sauce pan, over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the flour and cook for three minutes, stirring often, until the mixture is smooth. Add the half and half, salt, pepper, and garlic and continue cooking for five minutes. Add the swiss cheese and cook for another two minutes, or until smooth.
Cover each pizza crust with one half of the cream sauce, then top with half of the cheddar, pineapple, ham, and onion. Bake in the over at four hundred and twenty five degrees for another twenty minutes. Allow the pizzas to cool for five minutes before transferring them to a cutting board and slicing them to serve. Enjoy!
