Apples and Deliciousness Dip…a simple children’s recipe.
We made this at our last 4H culinary club meeting, and the kids had a ball. They also literally inhaled the apples. The dip is a fantastic treat for the kiddos, and adults love it as well.
4 large apples (we used gala, any kind will do)
¼ c. lemon juice
1 block cream cheese, at room temperature
1 container butterscotch ice cream topping
1 tbsp. cinnamon
1 tbsp. vanilla extract
Slice the apples. For our smaller kids we used an apple corer. Remember that one of the best parts of an apple is the skin…lots of good fiber. Toss the sliced apples in the lemon juice with a large spoon. This keeps them from turning brown and the tang of the lemon actually enhances the sweetness of the apples.
In a medium sized bowl, combine the vanilla, cinnamon, butterscotch, and cream cheese with a hand held mixer. Mix the dip on medium speed for about three minutes, or until it is smooth. Scrape the sides of the bowl down with a spatula.
Transfer the dip to a serving bowl. The apples and the dip can be lightly dusted with cinnamon as a garnish. Enjoy!
